Ok guys,
Today I got into an accident, and I'm for once the rant is from someone who caused it! In the end it will be found that I am wholly responsible and I will admit that I am atleast responsible for part if not all of the accident itself. But god damn am I pissed at the person that I hit. He was an ass.
Situation
I'm driving down the Lions Gate Bridge and its causeway, for those of you that live in or around Vancouver, BC you know that it is in itself, heaven on earth during rush hour. Imagine 3 lanes (2 going one way, 1 going the other at different time periods), I'm sitting behind a mass of cars waiting to get off the bridge (probably a kilometer long) and I just got off my cell phone to my mom asking here where she is in the mess and how she's coping with it (my mom was driving the jaguar and gets extremely nervous driving it in back roads, not to mention congested city streets). Shortly after getting off the phone my lane begins to proceed forward, i look up and notice that the group is going and move my car to the friction point (I drive manual) and slowly begin easing forward, little did I know that the person in front of me wasn't moving. I collided with him at a relatively immeasureable speed (1 kph maybe) and the only damage to him was minor dents from the lug nuts that hold my plate into place.
I admit it was my fault, but for christ sakes people, when the cars infront of you move, its usually a sign that you should start moving too. To give you guys an idea of how long it took for me to hit him, the cars that were in front of him were roughly 24 feet of 8 meters in front of him before I actually collided with him. On top of this he was very uncomprimising, the first words that came out of my mouth was, "I'm sorry this is my fault, I'll talk to the insurance agency and call you by tommorow." The only reply he could have to that was 'I'm a very busy person and this is very inconveniencing for me, I have two kids and it will be difficult." What else do you want me to do? (the first answer to come out of your guys mouth will be, DON'T GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, well its to late for that isn't it?.) My point is, I was comprimising, I told him I'd work as hard as I could to solve his problems and he was still a bit of a jerk. When I told him to give my his license so I could check his DL# and name, he gave me a hard time. WTF.
/RANT
Coles Notes:
a) Rear ended guy at slow speed, he wasn't moving despite the fact that cars were 24 feet in front of him.
b) I admit error, my fault, i'll solve the issue, I give him my contact numbers.
c) The guy is an asshole, says how difficult it will be, pulls a stiff when I ask for his drivers license.
d) I'm pretty depressed
