I used to make $11 an hour, but I worked 50+ hour weeks consistently. If I worked about 108 hours in 2 weeks the paychecks were about $1300.

Now I'm salary, $35,000 a year. $35,000 / 26 = $1346.15

In other words I didn't get any raise at all! Bastard.... I'm going 40 hours weeks from now on, screw this.

edit: I just marched into his office and told him that I'm not going to take it. I'd be willing to wait until he can offer me something better. Now that I think about it, it was a really low ball offer. :|

But you may get screwed. Since you are on salary now, what if they make you work OT?

Er, I don't get it, how can you "turn down" a raise? is it a different position?

Are they making you a full time as opposed to part time?

simple, I just told him that I would much rather keep my old pay structure (hourly w/ benefits) instead of taking the new pay structure (salary w/ benefits). I did this because I could potentially make more w/ the old pay structure if I started working more hours. Until he can give me a better offer I turned it down. I told him I didn't want to be asking him in a few months for another raise if I accepted this one.

it's the same position btw.

Um, that is actually a "LOWER".

Yes, $35,000 / 26 = $1346.15, but after tax and social security is taken out it is going to be about $1100 or less.

if I worked a 108 hours on one paycheck then -> 80 * 11 + 28 * 16.5 = 880 + 462 = $1342 before taxes .Sorry I meant before taxes.

Yup, ask for at least 40K if they're going to make you salary.
