Rant: ATT/Cingular is awful

I am eligible for an upgrade on my phones. I have two months left on my contract. On the ATT website, I can get a Nokia N75 for $75 shipped. Great, So I go to check out, and I get an error saying my CC number is wrong, I didn't select a card type, etc. I called customer service and tried to order on the phone, but the phone was over double in price when order from phone sales. They duplicated the problem on the site, and said they didn't know what to do, and try another time.

I called another rep, and the same thing happened. They told me to order on the phone for double the amount. I said no.

I called to try and get out of my contract because this is bullshit, and they said it would be $175 per line to do that.

They transfered my to Phone Sales again, and they said they cannot match that price and they didn't know what I could do.

I am stuck with a two year old phone that has issues (shuts off randomly, battery hardly holds a charge, etc) and I cannot get the best price, because at no fault of my own, their website is not functioning. I explained this to 5 reps from several different departments

Gahh...I wish they would just sell me the phone for the web price, or the site would work, or they would let me out of contract. This really sucks not having a phone that works properly and not being able to get the best price on an upgrade I am entitled to. 🙁

my mother in law had a similar experience
she kept calling and eventually got a human that helped her get it straight/get the lower web price

good luck

Which is exactly why I bought my last 3 phones on eBay. Bought $200 phone for $50 and no contract hassle to worry about. I feel free as a bird.

I did...same thing. He would only sell me a $75 phone for $150, and that was AFTER a mail in rebate, which I might not get.

Yeah...I am going to keep calling. Either they will fix it, or I will call so much they will ask me to get a new cellular carrier.

So they are awful because the site isn't working? WHy don't you just try tomorrow or the next day?

Just upgraded my phone/contract online last month. Worked seamlessly.

They are awful because they won't match the price. I have been trying for a week now.

One rep said something about my address on file does not match the address I am using for billing and shipping, but they can't update my address because they can't find it in their system or something. He didn't know what was going on or how to explain it.

FYI don't get that N75 phone. My wife has it and the battery life is just awful. She has to charge it every night even when she might only use it for 20 minutes.
