Considering the things that I've seen with airlines, this isn't THAT bad, but just enough to piss me off compared to other airlines.
I signed up for their advantage program (frequent traveler) program back in July. I belong to tons of these types of organizations due to business travel, but for some reason had never flown American until July last year.
Anyways, I acquired some business trips and gained flight miles and all was well. In November they gave me an offer to trade my miles in for magazine subscribs but I denied it to save them for travel.
Today I logged into their site to see if I want to use my miles soon and it shows a balance of 0. Well, "that must be a mistake" I thought and looked back through summaries. Now my balances all the way back to July show as 0 as if I have never even traveled on their airline.
I gave them a call and talked to a rep and she said that even if I can prove that I was on their flights - it won't matter because they aren't assocaited with my advantage account for some reason, but she believes me because she got the magazine offer herself as well.
So now I'm left without my miles, no recourse to gain them back, and now will never fly american again as they apparently can't keep track of their customers' records.
Cliffs:
1) Signed up for Advantage (frequent flyer) and flew around for business
2) Had miles on account
3) logged in today and all were gone as if they never existed on past statements
4) AA won't credit me for them even if I prove I was on the flights
5) AA can go to hell
