I think the AT Self Ownage award is in need of a name change. I like the sound of the "Anandtech David McOwen Self Ownage Award." The trophy could be a statue of Dave hunching over a PC and illegally installing DC software, or just a big bottle of vinegar or gas can.

DON'T YOU GET IT?!? Just look at the proliferation of UPSes in the computing world? Even now they're seeding them, pushing tech journos to sing their praises.

This is a rant, not just against UPS but against the Corporate culture that is getting away with the crap they should not be getting away with.

As a computer tech a lot of people would come to me asking for help with their computer and I used to blame them for clicking on something they should not have. Well I can't blame the people anymore and I can't fix their computers anymore because the Corporations have taken control of the Internet, the browser and everyone's PC's. Just as an example today I ordered a couple boxes of contacts and I simply wanted to put in the tracking number in the UPS tracking website. I add the number and click on track and it pops up with a box with no X to turn the box off and only option is to click on big green Install their App now button. So UPS takes control of the web browser, tracks your every web page you visit and sends everything you type to their servers.

This is completely unacceptable, everyone should be revolting against this crap, everyone. For those that bring your computer to me, well I will ask what was the last website you visited, in this case UPS, I say take your PC to them and demand that they fix it because they broke it or you will sue them.

Those brown trucks you see driving around your neighborhood? They're not delivering packages. Nope. They're beaming mind control waves towards people like Dave and wirelessly transmitting viruses and malware to computers. That's how all the distributed computing software was installed on those university PCs - the UPS site made people do it. MADE PEOPLE DO IT. Dave was framed!
