RANT: AAARRRGGGHHH... Stupid LAPTOPS... Stupid XP...

so i'm reinstalling xp using the recovery cd (formatting and such), then installing programs (acrobat, mozilla, etc...) as normal. after a couple of reboots, the computer hangs after the initial windows xp logo screen (the moving bar screen). i'm like, ???, so i use last working configuration, same thing. boot into safe mode works however, but i can't uninstall any programs because windows installer doesn't work in safe mode. so now im left w/ one thing: reinstalling xp again.

this is my 5th time reinstalling xp, and it just HANGS PERMANENTLY after some reboot. i have no idea why, keeping things simple, but AAARRGGGHH...

1. Did you install an extra memory stick and never bother to test it?
2. Could one or more of the apps you keep reinstalling be infected?
3. Have you checked for bad sectors?

Stop installing so many things on one boot.

It's a pain to do, but install things one at a time. If you install something, and things go awry, you have a good indication of what program it was.

My personal preference is to not use recovery cds because usually they suck.
