Also to reiterate on something someone said earlier, Brady and Moss are number one BFFs on the team (probably not so much in real life). They're always right next to each other on the bench So you'd be irking Brady a lot by trading moss...as if trading moss isn't stupid enough.

I wonder if anyone can come up with a list of notable players NE (belichic) has gotten rid of (cut or traded) since the last super bowl win. I'd like to see it. I don't know why they love future 3rd round draft picks so much :p

Can we have someone else say it's a done deal, still unsure on that point.

As it relates to fantasy, biggest loser is welker. He is now a mandatory double team. Biggest winners would probably be the farve-moss combo, although I wouldn't start them this week and it may be another week after that for them to get synced. Other winners are tate-hernandez as their receptions should go up. Undecided how this will affect the NE RBs as they will probably have to take more runs/screens while at the same time defenses will probably also shift to cover the same with no deep threat.

Ok, so he had to have been a RFA at the end of the season. Interesting, to say the least. The Pats could've held on to him, not signed him at the end of the season, and still gotten a third rounder for him (though I think they would've had to make an offer and have it matched or exceeded for this to happen). And quite possibly, a better third rounder depending on where the Vikings finish.

Which points to the fact that he must have done something so horrendous or "horrendous" that the team felt his roster spot was more valuable to them than the player himself.

I am waiting for the Vikings Pats game. Moss is gonna light it up against our pathetic D. I think that may be the game that BB gets a heart attack.

And with this post, I can return your sentiment of "My thoughts exactly". Moss is going to torch our secondary, especially with gunslinger Favre at the wheel.

I am just at a loss with this trade. The NFC is wide-open, and the this probably guarantees the Vikings a playoff spot, which means it's not even going to be a *good* third round pick. The Vikings were desperate and were willing to part with a 2 and a 4 for Vincent Jackson. You can't even get a straight 2 for Moss?

Can this be considered a win for AP as well? Seems like having Moss out there should help force defenses to play the run/pass more honestly.

Done deal. Welcome back asshat.

looking forward to some C. Wood vs Moss match-ups! Should be incredible battles.

Wonder how he will be received in Minnesota. Thoughthose idiots will embrace anyone if it gets them a title. :)

I've already resigned to the fact that I will never see the Vikings get a SB win in my lifetime. It is just sad that I can also believe that may be the case for my 3 month old son...

Looks like the max compensation pick for Moss would have been a 5th rounder in 2012. According to Reiss on ESPNBoston, "That pick could have been no higher than a fifth-rounder in 2012, because Moss has 10 accrued seasons in the NFL. "

LOL I feel for ya.
Getting Moss though, I think just pushed the Viking stock up dramatically. Lets see what old man Favre can do with him. AP should definitely benefit from the acquisition.

AP is a toss up. He went from 90% of the offense against defense geared for him to 60% and under (and further down once/if rice comes back heallthy) against balanced defenses.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but your son is going to be a Bears fan.

That's assuming the Patriots keep trying to run the same offense. I have a feeling that now we're going to see a lot of the two new TEs, who have shown the ability to torch defenses in any part of the field. Doubling Welker simply means that you're going to have a guy like Aaron Hernandez being covered by a linebacker... Hernandez wins that match up every single time.

I think the Patriots' offense suffers, but not as much as everyone predicts. They still have a ton of weapons.

I guess the more loyal fans are saying the following this morning:

1) Tom Brady clearly knew this was coming and, if he signed off on it, then it must be a good thing.

2) Randy Moss was forcing Tom Brady to throw to him more often (think Jets games this year and last). Now that he's gone, Brady can spread the ball out like he used to.

3) Randy was about to self-destruct. The team is young and needs real leadership, not someone who is more interested in himself than anyone else.

I'm not saying I believe any of that, but that's the talk around here today.

They drafted him out of college and he played the first seven years of his career for MN.

I assume you knew that. Some MN fans won't welcome him because he didn't always have the best attitude when he was here, but the fact that he led the league in touchdowns for three years during that time mitigated that fact, to many people.

If the Vikings are in the running later this season, it should get very interesting once Rice is ready to return. Rice, Harvin, Moss, Shianoe, Favre and Petersen? Intriguing.

The Pats knew if they were going to give Moss an extension or not before the season started and knew he would become a malcontent. They should have realized this and drafted Dez Bryant as his replacement.

I think this move is signaling the end of the short-lived time where the Patriots organization put up with divas.

They shipped out Maroney because he refused to be a team player.

They shipped out Moss because he refused to be a team player.

They shipped out Seymour because he wanted a huge contract and that was making him less of a team player.

Seems like they don't give a shit how good you are, if you start bitching about your role or aren't giving 100%, they aren't interested in keeping you around.

They do not put up with them, period. Look what happened to Login Mankins. He started going public and things just exploded out of hand. The only person who did it the "Pats way" was Brady. You sit down, play, and wait. Wilfork went public, but he isn't gone, however.

I understand the complaints from Vikings fans being that Moss had attitude issues in the past. However, he was dealt not because of that but because of Red McCombs lightening payroll to make the team a more attractive purchase, which he succeeded in doing.

That said, unless the Vikings give up an unreasonable amount in return, this seems like a reasonable move right now. How many more losses before it's desperate? There's too much talent in place now to let the situation languish simply because of the lack of a deep threat who can click with Favre and take pressure off other receivers. Don't kid yourselves, the team could take a big hit in the next year to two, with retirements and free agent movement. Strike while the iron's hot, yes?

The list of receivers above is identical to last year, minus Rice and plus Baskett and Camarillo. They made the NFC championship with that mix. Adding Moss to the mix could fill the hole that Rice left until he returns late this season.

Yeah, you're right. Moss is a gamble but for just a 3rd rounder it's worth taking the risk. If nothing else he'll draw the defense away from the other receivers. Hopefully his attitude will improve since he's not on the Pats anymore.

If he plays well against the Jets I'm sure it'll placate any Vikings fans with lingering doubts.

Look at his track record. He is good for the first two years...then it just declines.

Was already excited for that game, now I am insanely excited, even though the Jets look dominant right now.

KT

I watched the very first Viking game against Bears I believe they won. Fran was unbelieveable.

I liked Randy at first but his work ethic sucks . Than when I go back to the last game last year and the 3 this year . Vikings have offensive line problem . Against the jets we may lose farve. OFFENSIVE LINE SUCKS.I don't believe this was a good trade . But would very much like to be wrong about that.

That might be all the Vikings need though. Favre is going to have to retire for good sometime... I'd bet on this being his last season but you never know with him.

Moss probably considers himself above catching passes from anything but elite quarterbacks so he'll probably stop trying once Favre retires, but when that happens the Vikings are going to have other things to worry about anyway.
