(Sorry if this is a repost) I tried posting this once already but it didn't show up so i'im trying it again)

My computer reboots randomnly...
- Usually i would diagnosis this as memory issue but...

I have an
a7n8x deluxe
mobile barton 2500
and kingston hyperx 4000

when i first got the CPU last week...
it posted i think 2ghz stable @ 1.65 or stock voltage (i prime 95'd it)
I tried pushing it to 2.2 and it didn't run stable for long...
now when i prime95 it... it won't run stable at 2.0 1.9 or even 1.7...
i have to clock it at 1.6 before it runs prime 95 okaY (STRESS TEST W/O ERRORS)

I'm guessing i got a lemon processor... but could it be anything else?

thanks...

i dont think you can rma a chip that you have willingly overclocked. overclocking voids the warranty on most cpu's. check with the company you ordered from because im guessing you are hosed when it comes to rma'ing a cpu thats been overclocked!

antec true 380 from my piano sonata
Also have a 9800 pro
dvd drive
and dvdr +-
and 2 80gb wd ide hddrives

some more info:

temps never got above 43 C because of 947u thermal right
plus my mobo has cpu overheating protection

could it be my powersupply?
can't give it the juice?

that might support the randomn restarting...
but my cpu still doesn't pass prime at 1700mhz

One more thing it doesn't post any error messages. No blue screens of death... It just restarts

What OS are you using?

If Win2k/XP, have you checked the EVENT LOG for a clue?

My guess is it the ATI drivers are causing it...

Try resetting the CMOS jumper and going in from scratch. That way your garaunteed that all settings are back where they should be. ATI drivers could be the culprit too... what version.
Good Luck

hasn't restarted unless i was running at with an "unstable" processor setting

I upped my voltage up to 1.75 and ran it at 1900 it was stable in prime
awful high voltage though to make it stable...
i'm gonna see if it will go up to 2.0 again at 1.75

i'm becoming more convinced i just got a processor that doesn't perform up to what everyone else has been getting

thanks for the input
