I have a logitech laser two button scrolling corded mouse plugged into the usb port on the back of my computer. Randomly, the computer will stop receiving input from the mouse; i'll move it around but the cursor will remain stationary on the screen. Is there anyway to tell if the mouse is defective or if the usb port is defective?

Also try moving the wire around - it may have a loose connection at the mouse end.

you can grab a generic mouse for around $2, just to do this test. honeslty, idk what it could be but i'm more leaning toward broken mouse rather than dirty USB port. going through the whole "look for anything logitech, uninstall it manually and then reinstall drivers" has a small chance to fix it should it be corrupted drivers, say the result of some incompatibility from a while back.

fyi laser mice aren't the besteststs, depending on what surface (LAZER MOUZ!! WRKS ON ANEE SURFAZZ!!) you are working on it could be the sensor.
