Overview of the problem
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Moved computer location. Now the computer randomly reboots (either in windows or when booting). Can happen 3 seconds into boot, or 15-20 mins into running in Windows 7. Sometimes it will stay on for long periods of time and work okay. Once it shutsdown it tries to reboot and fails on boot with no BEEPS in BIOS.
Full description of the problem and symptoms
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since moving the computer I am having an issue of the system randomly rebooting. This happens either in windows or on BIOS/boot. No error message in event log or problems I can see in BIOS.
When the computer reboots it never comes back with any BEEPS. It just sits there on...but doing nothing. Turning the computer on/off does not fix it. Only method of fixing the problem temporarly is to remove CMOS battery, reset the power source. This method sometimes...works.
The only oddity is after tinkering around with CMOS resets and power source resets it generally stays online for a good 5-6 hours before I shut her down normally...I can't explain this.
Did it work normally at one time, or has the problem always existed?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Worked normally until the computer was moved.
Is the problem consistent and repeatable, or entirely random, or semi-random?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
random.
I already tried these steps:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- removing the cmos battery and resetting BIOS seems to help. But only gets me back into Windows sometimes...
- removing the power to the PSU and plugging it back in sometimes helps...]
- removed all RAM and tried each one. Did not resolve issue.
- tried different outlet for PSU power source and same issue.
