Random WOL from Standby?

WOL runs great on my server, with the exception when I go into standby mode (S3). Once in standby, it will just randomly wake up. I've made sure that I have no open VNC or network connections prior to going into standby.

If I hibernate only, the issues go away and the system will only wake up when I send the WOL magic packet. That's what I'd like to do with standby S3.

Any ideas?

You are confusing two different things, what you are complaining about has nothing to do with WOL.

WOL works only with Magic packets and works when the computer is totally Off (standby is not totally off).

When the computer is in Standby WOL is Not functioning, if set to react to LAN traffic the computer wakes up if there is any LAN activity on the network.

Look at the Motherboard BIOS you will find an entry in the power management screen that relates to wake up on LAN traffic (this has nothing to do with WOL). Disable it and the computer would stay in standby.
