Try one more time but do this through Catalyst instead:

Set your core from 157 to 400 MHz. Set your memory from 300 to 900 MHz.

I just tried setting it to 250 (core) and 400 (memory), it wasn't stable; everything was laggy and frames were repeating/sticking in place. I bumped it to 400 and 900 and it's fine right now. We'll see how it goes over the course of a few days, or maybe 5 minutes.

I may try that tomorrow then. I really do hate problems you cant consistantly reproduce. Can never tell when you fixed the damn problem, go for hours without any issue thinking its fixed and then BAM resurfaces out of the blue. Case in point its been 4 hours now since the last bit of artifacting, with me at the computer web surfing the entire time, and no issue. I dunno, maybe the system needed a reboot for that afterburner fix tempered posted about to solve the problem. Reset the driver or something.

Its just ridiculous. I cant remember /EVER/ having these kinds of problems with an nvidia card. They have all just been plug and go. Come to think of it the 9800xt (and 9600xt i put in my sisters machine) had artifacting issues on and off as well depending on what driver i was using at any given time. Not as bad as this, but then i guess i should have known better.

Side note, XFX tech support on their website is terrible. Submitted a support ticket this morning to see if they knew anything about this issue and i still have yet to get any kind of response at all from them.

Ya, I can go for a day or two marathon session without a crash before it pops back. Some days I get it 3 times. Hit and miss.

XFX support is slow. I submitted a ticket and it took a week and half to get 2 responses from 2 different technicians. They did answer it though and they spoke English which is a huge plus.

Ok, don't bother with the core/memory clock bumps at idle. I just crashed on desktop again; this one was even messier because the screen went black. At 157/300, it would still render 1 frame every 5-10 seconds, so I could force a restart easier.

Ok, fuck it. I give them a month then RMA the piece of shit and ask for a GTS 250. I spend at least 75% of my computer time on my desktop, if you can't do that right, then I don't care what you're "capable" of.
