i don't know the distance, but i lived in a small town in south georgia for a few years during my childhood. closest team would have been in atlanta since we moved before jacksonville got a football team.
Never more than about 10 miles--livin' in the burbs. I'm back in the city now. I'm happier here. I hate time lost to commuting. Makes me late for stuff. Work is 4-8 minutes depending on traffic, and school is about 4 minutes by car (or I bike--that's faster than driving, or I walk--that's 10 minutes). I've now got 3 pro sports teams who play less than a 0.5 to 1.5 miles from where I sit. (A cheap cab ride to be sure!)
The furthest away I lived was about 3 hours. I used to live in Omaha. The closest sports teams were in Kansas City. I live about 2 hours from Charlotte now.
Well I'm about 20 miles from Milwaukee. SO if you count the Bucks and Brewers as Pro Teams (not sure I do), then it's about 130 miles or so up to Green Bay.
