My new favorite Star Wars character is Captain Panaka from Episode 1. Why? Sheer comic value...

HE'S ALWAYS WRONG! Anytime he says something, it's wrong!!

"Once we're inside, we shouldn't have too much trouble"...yeah right...

"Most likely they were wiped out" ...no they weren't...

"I do not agree with the Jedi on this one..." ...WTF? you don't disagree with a Jedi, idiot!

Or how about the no nonsense way he blows out that window. It's like "F*ck this! BLAMBLAMBLAMBLAM!!!!"

and his terrible, terrible closing line.. "i think you can kiss your trade franchise goodbye!"

every time I watched that movie, I laughed my ass off. he's such an idiot...did Lucas do this purposely? why would the queen want such a dimwit as her head guard?

thoughts? :D

You have to understand that we saw Captain Panaka at a bad time. No body seemed to give a damn about his opinion, so he had to go against the Jedi just to see if the queen gave a care as to whether he still existed. I mean when you have to Jedi guys in front of you and YOUR supposed to protect the queen, your job doesn't feel so secure anymore. Which leads to why it would be easy to take the castle. That was his part of the attack, so he had to sound like it was easy for him or else he would have gotten the ax right away from Queen Amadala (sp?). I feel sorry for the guy, he couldn't win.

If I were him, I would make up some war between him and the Jar Jar people so he can go on a killing spree, build alegance among his men and then use that army to occupy the city and announce himself king. They do that kind of stuff in third world countries all the time.

I think you just spent 5 times the amount of thought to this character than George Lucas did.

(I'm sorry, I have to add this: It's a MOVIE. It's NOT REAL. Put down the remote control and back slowly away from the screen...these nice men in white are here to HELP you...)
