Recently my system will shut down from what i can tell for no reason.. I run asus probe and my cpu temps are around 47-50 about the same idling my system temps are 19-22. from what i have read in the past that those temps are not bad.. could my power supply be going out?? i dont think my bios is turning off my power becuase of temps. here are my specs

Case g-mono
psu TTGI 350W
cpu 1800+ palamino vcore 1.75 (not overclocked)
MB a7n8b delux
3 cooler master case fans
cpu cooler volcano 5

It does sound like an overheating issue.. try blowing out the heatsink if it has any dust in it. Also, if you can lower your RAM frequency try that as well. I had a friend that had pc2700 memory that didn't like running at 333MHz.. so instead I had to lower it back down to 266MHz and it ran fine.

I opened up my case and I did find alot of dust in between the fan and the heatsink. Got rid of all the dust temps went down to 38-40 45-47 load. So there was deffinity a problem there. and no shutdowns yet. if it does not happen today i know its fixed.

My ram is corsair 3200LLPT 512MB should i run it at SPD?? (400) or sync it with the processor?? (266) I have not noticed a difference yet it speed which kinda sucks paid $142 to notice only slight increase.

Before I had 2100 samsung before 2x256mb dual channel make that big of a differnce?

Not Fixed it shut off again. I dont know what it is.... my power led stays on if that makes any difference. I was thinking probe was shuting it down for being to hot but I dont see anywhere to turn that off. Also probe was not running a couple times. So i doubt that it is causeing the trouble. so if anyone else has any ideas let me know do i need to turn my ram down???

When you say random do you mean you are often not using the cpu at all or nothing is running and you are out of the room when it happens????

Sounds like a heat issue to me...In my experience power supply issues usually have tended to lean towards reboots or hardlock freezes. When it just shuts down it is usually a sign of a dead PSU or one failing quickly and it usually has problems starting up right after it does that...sound familiar???

Also check your bios as the mobo bsio often has a shutdown temperature in there as well.

Well random meaning it happens when I out of the room and it idle that happened 4 times and 3 time while using it for battlefield and 2 times just browsing the internet. when it shuts off the power just goes off. When i try to turn it on i have to switch the psu's power switch in order to turn on the computer. when i check my temps right after they are in the low 40's for cpu system is around 20. could my bios be reading my temps wrong?? i have seen probe go to 16C then imedatly jump back to where it was...

Try change out the Power Supply, also make sure Windows doesn't reboot when there is an error. My friends on did that couple times a day becuase of the Windows setting.

I bet this is PS problem. I recommend fortron 350w, which is pretty cheap & reliable.

ok it happened just 2 mins ago the computer had only been on for 30 mins nothing was hot. I did have probe running so I am not able to see if there was a spike in the voltage. just how steady should the voltage be?? the 12v and the 5v jump around a little. the 12v goes from

12.288 to 12.224

then the 5v

4.786 to 4.838

3.3 and vcore are very steady.

Please help... I just bought a 2500 really dont have money for a PS

Happened again about 10 mins ago voltage did not spike or anything although they did shift around alot about 10 mins before it went down. All 4 voltages that is. Should I be looking for a new PS?? are fortrons as good as antecs? Close? will I be happy with one????

I had much the same problems with a particular machine, and it was indeed the power supply.

Yeah. I have a cheap Codegen powersupply in my system and it shuts off sometimes while setting up a C-S server! I think its my psu, but i'm too cheap to get a new one! I got an xp 1700+ that runs at like 45 celcius with a retail fan! :(

Decent 350w power supply with case, $34 at thechipmerchant.com. Add 12 bucks, get blue or yellow case too!

i dunno if he should get that deal...i got a p4 ready psu with case for 58 and it cant run my 9600pro, ddr400, p4c well

it wouldn't let me put my corsair into dual channel mode. it would reset before xp boot.
right now i have that psu hooked up only to the mobo
i have a separate psu 250w hooked up to cdrw, dvd, cathode, 3 fans, hdd, fdd

I've put several cost effective Athlon systems together using these Raidmax cases/psu's, and never had a problem. Now if you are going to put evey power sucking device known to mankind in the box, perhaps something more than a 350w is indicated.
