I've heard of ISPs getting sh1ttier and slower, but not FASTER (for free at least). :Q

I've been with this ISP for a few months now, cause they advertised unlimited transfer (down and up). They don't have that offer anymore, but I am still on the unlimited plan since I signed up with it. Sometimes I download 20, 30 or even 40GB, upload 5, 6, or even 10GB and I haven't gotten bugged once, so I'm happy so far.

The speed was 1.2mbps down 160kbps up. I would usually get 90-115KB/s download and 18KB/s upload.

I noticed lately that downloads seemed to be going faster somehow. I was reaching 185KB/s, and hitting 140-160K often. And just now I realized my upload was hitting 32KB/s. Ummm... woah? Seems I am at more like 1.5mbps down and 250+kbps up. This is a pretty sweet upgrade and I don't know WHY it's there.

hmmmm

wow, that's insane. with my old cable ISP i downloaded over the 6GB limit and I got fined $200-300 in one month! The speed was 200-400KB/s usually, and 15KB/s for upload.

Measuring by my actual download and upload speeds, I am attaining 1.5mbps download and 256kbps upload. Does this mean it's actually closer to a 2.0/384 setup now (with overhead etc factored in)? pretty sweet considering i'm paying the same and i signed up for 1.2/160 :p

Man, you're lucky. My downloads just got cut from 1.2 Mbps (~140 KBps downloads) down to 600 Kbps (~85 KBps downloads). It sucks

In the last 12 months verizon has gotten faster and cheaper. I went from originally 49.99 down to 39.99 for 768kbps......then recently they went to 1.5mbps for 34.99, with the first month free. So twice the speed, lower prices, no downtime, and great pings for CS. All i require of a broadband service.

This is insane... I'm downloading a file at 90KB/s, while uploading a file at 22KB/s, and using Stream-Ripper to yank some music from an internet radio station (128kbps), AND listening to a (different/seperate) online radio station (128kbps), and my chatting/browsing hasn't suffered yet. :D wow.. this is a sweetass change. :p
