Ok, in the last few days my computer has been playing random sound clips coming from god knows where.

One of the clips sounds kind of like the rapper DMX, another is the aol instant messenger sound when you receive an instant message(hopefully it is only the sound and not a message being sent/received without me knowing). There are probably a few others but I can't remember.

What can be causing this? I ran AVG free and it got rid of a few things, but apparently nothing that was causing the problem. I also ran adaware but it always crashes for some reason. I have no idea what else to try

I don't know what could be causing the problem, there is an awful lot of 'file missing' entries though. So perhaps it is related to one of those.

I'm no HJT expert, but it looks like your system has a purtty good infection going on. Looks like you are running Vista, is that correct? If not, and are running XP...google the programs "smitfraudfix" and "lspfix". You will want to run SFF in safe mode...it is a spyware malware removal tool. Looks like you also have an LSP problem...is internet explorer acting flaky and getting a lot of popups and/or your homepage getting changed? Run LSPfix....been a long time since I've used it but I think its purtty straight forward. If you are running Vista though, I'm not sure these programs are compatible with it...could be newer versions out since I used though. Sometimes baddies will hide out in the System Volume Information (system restore) so that they will continually be able to restart themselves...disable that to delete all the info and reboot and scan again with your AVG.

If you google some of the "file missing" exe's in the HJT log, you'll see that some of them are apparently Windows files...judging by that I personally would probably just do a clean install of OS instead of trying to track down everything.

Again I'm no expert but thats what I see...you could try posting your HJT log file at spywareinfoforum.com...those guys can pick apart those log files like a kid can pick out all vegetables from there lunch.

Good luck!

Also, re-scan using HijackThis 2.0.2 instead of 1.xx. And also check your rig with Secunia's software checkup: https://psi.secunia.com

AVG is not a top-notch antivirus either... I suggest uninstalling it and getting either AntiVir, or a 30-day free trialware of Kaspersky Antivirus 7.
