Random shutoffs (likely PSU)

I recently built a mythtv box and got everything up and running but I've been having this weird problem with power in the box.

When I move the box around enough when fiddling with cables or tilt it to get something that fell under it, the power suddenly cuts off. Being curious since this usually doesn't happen with other PCs, I repeated the conditions that cause it to occur and get the same result - power cut out.

I believe the problem is in the power supply since I checked the connections of everything on the board and nothing was loose. But I was wondering if someone had ideas or diagnostic feedback they could provide. Thanks.

How about the power lead going into the psu?
Try wiggling it and see if it crackles

It's in there quite well. I wiggled it around but I didn't hear anything. I suppose I could unmount the PSU and see if applying motion causes it to turn off. But if that isn't the case, then what could cause this problem?

I unmounted the PSU and tested the motion response. The unmounted PSU motion resulted in shutoff while the PSU-less case continued to work.

Since I don't know a lot about power supplies, what could cause this problem? The supply still works so I imagine that it isn't DOA but I'm not sure how I should go about replacing it if I would be unable to repair the problem myself (likely result).

sure its not just the cord running to the wall? or the recepeticle for it in the psu itself could be faulty.

Prob a loose connection inside the psu

I played with the cord and it didn't give me any problems. The connection seems solid as well since I wiggled it around and the power didn't cut out. I think montag451 is likely correct with something loose in the PSU which probably means I'll need to return it.

The PSU came with an Antec case I got on Newegg. Since I've never had to return components before, would it be better to talk about returning the PSU to Newegg or Antec? Thanks again.

It will be easier to return it to Antec. I had two Power Supplies go out in the SLK1600 and the SLK1650. I just RMAd the power supply from each case. There is a place when you request an RMA where you will be able to put the model number in. You will need a copy of your receipt, although I read somewhere, in the future, Antec will not be requiring it anymore. I don't know if that time is now.
