Random Shutdowns, yay!!!

I recently opened up my computer to unplug the connector for the internal speaker, and after I did so my computer booted just fine and I began to play a game. Well about 10 mins in, the computer just shuts down. Bam. I press power, it begins to start up again, and just shuts down while loading Windows. I open it up, recheck all the connections, and I think they are all fine, reseat the video card, and start it up again. It boots to windows, then just shuts down. Next time, its just about to finish the bios check and it shuts down. This continues on, with it randomly shutting down somewhere in between the bios check and right after it boots to windows. What could be wrong?

First: Why did you want to disconnect the internal speaker? It's primary purpose now (for, what, the last 10 years or so...) is as a diagnostic tool. Your computer might be giving you some beep codes as to what's wrong (though I doubt it in this case...). If that change initiated the problems, my first thought would be to plug it back in.

Second: Are you absolutely certain that you got the right connector? Not something else important like, say, the HSF connector...

I'd be inclined to think this is the HSF or Power Supply.

Well I plugged the speaker back in to the right place (I know its the right place because the speaker works now) and that didnt help. I also tried swapping out the video card and ram, and that did not help either. Any other ideas?

Failing PSU? Is there any way to test out this possibility short of swapping out the PSU?

The guys are right,lastime I had random shut downs,they were due to a faulty PSU,you really need to try a different PSU to see if that solves the problem ,if not then probably a heat problem but I`m betting on the PSU first 😉.
