I'm getting completely random shut downs all of a sudden. it is happening randomly even at desktop. my screen goes dead then even though my computer continues to run and the lights on my mouse and keyboard remain on. this lasts for about 6 seconds then the computer shuts down. when I restart I get a, "your computer has shut down unexpectedly" error. I reinstalled drivers to no avail.
This is what it says in action center:

High GPU temps can cause this. Disconnect power leads and thoroughly clean with compressed air. Get GPU-Z and check your temps. A nice little app for setting GPU fan speed (and a whole lot of other hidden registry entries for ATI drivers) is RivaTuner 2.24c

Not enough information.

Were any OS updates recently installed? Any new applications? Does this happen in safe mode? Can it be made to happen in DOS (Windows 9X/ME startup disk) or while in BIOS?

Inspect and re-seat the video card. Uninstall the video driver and reinstall it. If the problem has begun happening since installing OS updates, you may need to update the video driver. Check the BIOS for possible change/adjustment of video settings. Otherwise swap the video card out with either a different model or different brand.
