Strong & weak "nuclear forces" are gravity. The electromagnetic field propagates as a wave, varying in strength on a microscopic scale depending on the phase a given point is in on this wave relative to the proton or electron at its center. The wavelength of this field is about 10x greater than the diameter of a proton, with the proton itself sitting at the weakest point, so the other protons in the nucleus are actually too close to be repelled.
Gravity is my favorite force as it will be used for the warp drive.
