Okay, I just built my PC a few days ago and it's running a 320GB WD SATA 3.0gb/s drive (I think that's sata II). Anyways, after I built it and got everything "running" I decided to install Windows XP, right? No. Both my versions are gone, I had lent them to a friend and at that moment or the rest of that day I could not retrieve them from him. So I call up a buddy to see if he had his copy (I had memorized my own CD Key from installing Windows a bagillion times) but he didn't but he said he had just downloaded WinXP 64-bit version and since I just got my processor and wanted to see if there as any difference I said what the heck and let him come over and install it cause he was curious too. Well I had a bunch of compatibility issues and also learned that the 64-bit version isn't very effective and is still very buggy, so decided to wait a day and install regular WinXP when my friend got home (The one with MY discs). He doesn't go home the next day, I can't get my discs again. My other friend (the one that came over the day before) says he uses a bootleg version and I'm against botleg OSs but I was in a very frustrated state at the moment and said "WHATEVER DO IT" and we put it in booted to it's CD worked and everything chose my 320gb drive to format (which showed up as 305,000MB) and did that, just the same as installing the 64-bit. Then that was EXTREMELY BOOT LEG and I felt unsafe using it because there were many discrepancies in Windows so I waited until today to get MY COPY of WinXP.

So I got my copy and booted to it and... what the hell? it says I only have 1 patition 130,000MB?!?!?!? Why does it say this? this is 40% or something of the actualy drive space. I didn't mess with anything physically bewteen the 3 installs. So I choose it anyways and by the end of formatting and "copying files" and after the reboot it says I have to install windows AGAIN!? If I take the CD out and reboot it wsays something's wrong with the disc drive and windows neds to be installed again. So I do, and I have to choose that 130GB partition again?!? why is that there again?!

PLEASE HELP!! I'm in the process of installing it yet again (On the stupid 130GB partition), but I'm at work and I won't find out how it went until I get home. Thanks a bunch guys.

Have you tried to see if it is possible to boot to a bootable WIN98 floppy diskette (make your floppy first device in BIOS) ???

If you can, just use FORMAT command to format all drive partitions and then use FDISK to delete all partitions and the use FDISK again to partition the entire drive as one partition and then boot back to your O/S CD and reinstall the O/S and repartition and format as you please.

Good luck.
