Random Rogue Spear/Black Thorn crashes w/R300

Using the full horsepower of my 9700pro to run one of my two fav games on my comp Black Thorne (the other is starcraft- tie with Age of Mythology-) after playin for like an hr or so the gear selection/ server config screen will flicker really quickly, but not crash. After I start the next mission (dont matter if its the same map or a different one) the game crashes back to the desktop after a few minutes. The same happens to my roommate and he has a completely different setup, short of having the identical video card.

Its not a big problem, more of a nusence anyone with similar experiences?

old games, chance its a dx prob of some sort? maybe they just dont wanna get along with what youre using?

tell ya what, ill trade ya my radeon 8500 and you can see if that works....sound good?
