Random Restarts

Hey guys,

I'm been on here once or twice before you guys always seem to have good advice. First and foremost, like all forums I searched to see if there was a problem similart to mine before posting this, but I was unable to find one that suited my needs. So here is my problem.

One day, I left my computer on and walked away for about 4 hours. Upon my return, my computer was randomly restarting at different times of its loading up process. Sometimes it would make it to Windows and other times it wouldn't even get to the post beep before restarting.

I had figured I had some really bad virus, so during one the times windows loaded up, I was able to system restore to an earlier time. This worked for 15 minutes or so then it started doing its random restarting all over again.

Then I tried different components. I pull out all my RAM and tried each in different slots. The problem continued. Then I tried unplugging my slave hard drive and making it my master. Nothing changed. I'm lost. I don't know what it could be. My friends told me I need another motherboard and other friends told me I needed a new power supply, but I can't tell which one I need.

Anyway, my system specs are as such:

Mobo: a7n8x-Deluxe
Power Supply: Thermal Take 480 W
RAM: 1X 512, 2X 256 PC3200 DDR 400
Video: X700 Pro 256 MB

Any help would be appreciated.

anything with a random restart makes me wonder if you are bluescreening. turn off the option to restart in windows on a bluescreen. you could also go into the administrative tools and look at the errors under the event viewer and get an idea of what is causing the problems.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, so I did just that.

I went into My Computer and unselected Automatically Restart Computer, so that it would give me a blue screen, but instead, nothing popped up. No blue screen.
