Random Resets? Help!

I have been having chronic problems with random resets with my current computer. The problem has persisted with multiple installation of both Windows XP and MCE 2005, multiple cases, and multiple electircal outlets.

I don't get a blue screen, the computer just restarts and windows restarts giving me a message: "windows has recovered from a serious error"

The reset will happen completely at random, it will go days without happening and then happen. It is definitely independent of straining the computer or operating temperatures etc. . as it can happen after a cold start with nothing running at all.

I am using an
ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe motherboard
AMD 64 3200+
Tubolink 420 Watt Power supply (20 pin - the motherboard is a 24 pin - does this matter?)
Leadtek 6600gt
1gb generic memory

Any ideas as to what may be the source of my problem.

Thank you in advance!

I reckon, and I'm no expert, that it's you generic RAM.

I had the same problem for about a year with my first build until someone pointed out that generic RAM is a gamble.

Download this and let it run for hours.

You should get absolutely no errors with good RAM.

Good luck!

You could try banging on your desk!

No seriously! I know two people who mounted their motherboards not on brass risers but straight onto their case!
When you banged on the desk, it would short the board and reset! I know this is desparate, but I've seen it twice.

Have a look at your events manager as well(right click 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'). You might get a clue in there?

Well, Its definitely not the mounting. I've had it in two cases, and the problem occured in both. And I do have it mounted on brass mounts.
