Random Reboots on Soyo Dragon PLus

Hello,

I installed the dragon plus last night and have been fighting with random lokcups all day. I installed windows XP as well as 2k and in either O/S it restarts.

I flashed to the latest BIOS Available which I believe is the 2ba1 BIOS. It said it flashed OK.

WHenever I am connected to the intenret and then I try to run something from the HDD or the CD-ROM Drive it locks up and reboots. I have no clue but it's rather annoying.

Here is my Setup:

Amd Xp 1500+
Soyo Dragon PLus
Crucial 256MB PC2100 CL2.5
Geforce 3 200 ti using 21.83s
Raid 0 2x40GB Maxtor 5400RPMS says its functional
20 GB 5400rpm on IDE 1 as Master works just fine.

Now I am running out of Options here. The CPU temp is a steady 46C at 1.33 GhZ and defualt Voltage. If anynone else has any tips please let me know.

THanks
Phil

Hi,
I'm having the exact same problem. I have Dragon Plus, Athlon XP 1600, 3 x 256 Crucial DDR2100, and Leadtek Geforce 3 Ti500, IBM 60GXP running without RAID. Get random reboots and lockups in everthing from internet explorer and winamp to sisoft sandra and 3dmark and wolfenstein. I'm running XP and i'm not overclocking anything. I think I'm going to RMA the whole thing and go buy a p4.

Seems the standard VCore for XP processors is 1.75V... You might try lowering it to around 1.6V - that got rid of a lot of instabilitiy and freezing in my system when I upgraded to an XP 1600+. I thought it was a problem specific to my KK266 mb, but maybe it's not...

Couldn't hurt to try!

Is this when using the drives on the Raid controller?
Are you booting from the raid drives?

yes it happens when I use the Raid Drives. and no I am not booting from them. I am booting off the 20 GB Maxtor.

thanks
Phil

Ok, I think I've found the answer 🙂

goto http://www.soyousa.com click on tech support/drivers and get the latest drivers for the dragon. I got the raid, ultra, 4in1 and lan drivers.
However, I'm not using the raid function at the moment.
Also, there is a jumper on the board to enable raid. To enabled RAID, set jumper RAID_IDE to 1-2 (You prolly have done this already)

I allready have all the newest drivers I think it has something to do with my Geforce 3 Drivers. I am going to try to switch the cases and see if it was a grounding problem. I'll keep you updated.

THnaks
Phil
