WinXP Pro (upgraded today from 98se), radeon 64, all latest drivers.

happens twice during counterstrike and once during GTA3... it happens after a few minutes of gameplay (10-30 mins). At first i thought i kicked my reset button by mistake but it happened again and i know for sure it wasnt me.

what to do?

first time with cs it was running normal. second time with win2k compatibility (runs better).

will now try 98/me mode to see if anything changes but i doubt it... any suggestions?

Try running your case open to see if your video card fan is working right, if it happens in multiple games after an average period of time, it sounds like overheating, older video cards can run fine without their fan running until you played a game that called on rendering capabilities. Also see if ATI has got another update driver or something. My Radeon 64 was being a biotch in XP, especially with ATI's drivers, but seeing as that is all you can get!

ill try that except i cant even get xp to run for 5 mins (even in safe mode) without crashing...

it gave me a BSOD talking about some mobo bios incompatibilities so i updated it and got a new BSOD about video problems but i cant stay connected long enough to download them (so ill get em via the lan later).
i notice that everytime it tries to exec the file amdagp.sys in safe mode it crashes... this AFAIK is tge AGP driver..

starting a new thread over at mobos cuz its definitely not software anymore...
