Random Reboots and low p/s voltage.

Well starting about 20 mins ago i had a few random reboots. I walked back into my room after stepping out for a bit and it had restarted. I was confused but went on like normal but it rebooted again, and then during the reboot it flickered a few times and loaded up windows. It did this again a few mins later. I checked the connections on everything and it hasn't done it in about 5 mins now, but i also checked my power supply voltages. Everything looks fine except my 3 which is sitting around 2.78-2.8. What hooks up to the 3 and could this be part of the problem?

How long did you check your PS for? It sounds like the problem is intermitten. And even then, it might not show up from just a simple test, but only when your computer stresses it. Get another PS and see if it still does that. They're cheap, and it's always a good idea to have a backup PS anyways even if it turns out to not be the PS.

I didn't check the ps for long, i just checked it again and it is up at 2.98. Its still randomly restarting though. If the ps isn't the issue what else could be? Its not overheating or anything it stays under 50c even when doing stuff like gaming.

As suggested by Moralpanic, try another PSU in the system. Try one with at least the same or higher rating than the one you have currently.

Well, it could also be driver issues. XP is set by default to reboot the system in event of fatal errors. You can turn that off and see if you get an error message instead.

Ill try that, hopefully thats the problem. Im a broke college student who is struggling to figure out how to buy gifts for my family for xmas right now, a new power supply for running a test will have to wait untill after new years.
