Random reboots and lockups. . .Anyone know what's going on?

Update:
After fiddling around some, it no longer shows the CPU error. But now, a few minutes after startup, it will either hard lock or spontaneously reboot randomly. Sometimes it will run for an hour or so before it exhibits this behavior. I've tried everything I can think of; please help!

While using my computer, it spontaneously rebooted. I was about to go to bed anyway, so I just switched it off. When I booted it up this morning, it stopped at the memory/drive detection screen and said: "CPU unworkable or has been changed." I turned it off, let it sit a minute, and tried again. It did the same thing. So, is my CPU dead? Or could another issue be causing it?
Specs:
KT7-RAID mobo
1gig Athlon classic
128meg ram
old nvidia vid card
20G WD hdd

no your cpu is not dead, check your capacitors, especially around the CPU. if the top is not perfectly flat ie. (bulged out), the capacitor has failed.

OK; my original post was from work seeing as my computer didn't work. I am now back home and I seem to have gotten it back working, at least for the time being. None of the capacitors are bulged or leaking (as far as I can tell). I removed the heatsink and processor to check for any obvious signs of failure. I found none, so I reapplied thermal compound and reinstalled and cleared the cmos for good measure. This time it gave me a "checksum cmos error" or something similar. I hit F1 to continue, and it booted normally. Anyone have suggestions on what may be wrong? My knowledge on such technical matters is very limited, as I'm sure is painfully obvious.

Now that it's up and running I'm getting BSOD's and when I go to reboot it won't; it just has this green line at the top of the screen and it locks there. I have to turn it off and then back on. But now it boots normally. I have no idea what's going on.

get another mobo ..you have an excellent chance of upgrading to a newer kt series without too much trouble..make sure you have drivers handy and your OS cleaned up(no spyware/worms/viruses,etc.)..
