I have been ripping CDs sucessfully with audiocatalyst for awhile now, but just recently it would reboot on certain songs of certain cds. Now when I try to start the program, it just restarts my computer. I thought it might be audiocatalyst, but I installed a different program and the same thing happened. I am running XP with a pioneer 16X DVD and a teac 24xCDRW. Any ideas? TIA

What other program did you try? What are the songs and CDs it is doing it on?

The other program I tried was CDex. I've been able to rip a few CDs successfully. Either the whole thing rips just fine, or it reboots as soon as I start the program or pop the CD in. The other thing that will happen is it will rip half the CD, then in the middle of a song, restart. I am using winaspi32.dll ver 4.70 (0) and aspi32.sys ver 4.70 (0) if that makes a different. The adaptec checker is telling me that "ASPI is not properly installed. One or more components have been replaced with older versions of the software."

Any suggestions?

I use Exact Audio Copy (EAC) with WinXP Pro and have no problems at all. EAC is the best ripper available, and it is free (well, you should send a postcard to the author). See the link in my signature for more info about rippers.

I DID NOT install any ASPI layer and have a Pioneer DVD-115 and a Cyberdrive 16x12x40 CD-R/RW drive. I get perfect audio rips at about 12x speed.
