I've been having some trouble with my new computer, and its really starting to bother me. I'm running the ASUS P4S533, a P4 2.26ghz, and 512mb of Corsair XMS PC2700 (1 module). I've been plagued by random reboots, I'd be doing anything, or even nothing, and the computer would reboot like somebody had thrown the power switch really quickly (the hard drives would spool down, etc)... the screen just blacked out and it rebooted. I recently (as in like 5 minutes ago [well 4hours5mins ago]) loosened my RAM timings from 2,2,2,5,1T to 2,3,3,6,1T, but could it be bad RAM? My temps (as reported by Asus Probe) are 35/32C cpu/mobo. I'm running Win2kPro with SP2, a GeForce4 TI4200, and I also have an ATI TV-Wonder card (if that could be causing it? maybe?). The other error I got was a reboot, but I got a blue screen first, that gave me 4 hex areas (maybe?) 0x00000002 or somesuch like that, then IRQL_LESS_THAN_ERROR and also BEGINNING CORE MEMORY DUMP. Usually it automatically rebooted after that, but one time it just froze, and I was able to copy the error message down in its entirety, but I can't find it now. :/ Also, I get random errors with IE, where it just out of the blue closes with "iexplore.exe has generated errors, creating error log" I'm probably gonna just upgrade to IE 5.5 this weekend. Otherwise, I remain open to any suggestions or possibilities... aside from a clean format and re-install (this is my 3rd one in the past 2 weeks). Thanks in advance for any help any of you can provide. [Update: I just played a game for 3-4 straight hours, no freeze-ups whatsoever, so that may have been it (referring to RAM timings). Any confirmation? Thanks again.]
