Specs:

xp1700 JIUHB DLT3C XPMW
Abit NF7 ver2
1x512 PC3200 GEIL Golden Dragon Value Series
80g WD 8mb Cache
Radeon 9000
HP CD-RW
Thermaltake Purepower 420w
Speeze HS/Fan with AS3

This is my first build, and my first overclock attemp. From what I've read, I should be able to get this CPU/mobo to run at least 11x200. So far I can only run stable at 12x166 with the memory divider at 5/6 so the memory runs at 400mhz @11-4-4-2.5. It will reboot at any time, even when completely idle. Below are my voltages and temps.

I've tried everything- raising/lowering voltages, FSB, and multipliers. Memtest was fine and I was able to run Prime95 stable for 3 hours with no errors right up until it rebooted. It looks like the +12 is low compared to some of the what people posted on newegg about this PSU. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running winxp???

If so make sure under system in control panel and then under system/restore the square to restart if error in unchecked...It could be BSOD and you are not seeing what the real culprit is....

Another thing is ultimately power or heat...

I know the power rails look fine at 5v and 3.3v but power issues are tough whether it is the PSU itself or somehow in how the mobo is taking and using that power....I doubt it is it but it is always nice to rule this out with another unit quite fast...

Heat doesn't appear to be happening to the cpu or system but make sure the vid card is not overheating or the power supply is not overly hot....

Finally....Just reformat and start over with a fresh install

That 12V rail is pretty low, even at stock speeds. Try uplugging your CD\DVD drives and any spare hard drives and see if that helps any.

Thanks for the welcome. I unplugged the cdr drive, and that had no effect on the 12v. I only have the one HD hooked up. I was thinking of RMAing the 420w thermaltake for maybe a 400w fortron or possibly an antec true430. Also, this IS a fresh XP install.

I checked the box you were talking about, and now i get a BSOD that says there was an error with win32k.sys. what does this tell you?

Try to increase your VDIMM (memory voltage) to 2.7V or 2.8V.

You installed Windows with it overclocked, didn't you? If you didn't I would definitely try to borrow another power supply, and other ram. Geil performs horrible on nForce2 systems. OCZ is the cheap, fast ram to buy for an Athlon. Geil usually only works well with P4-based systems. We answer ram questions all the time, and most of the time that someone has put Geil into an Athlon-based system, just replacing the ram solves their problems.

You can try underclocking the CPU. If you're passing memtest, the next suspect is CPU.
