ok, i have seti running on my fathers computer and my new laptop (as well as my own computer of course) and i am wondering why may fathers computer is faster than the laptop... he has:
p3-533 (obviously 133mhz fsb)
128megs rdram
win98se
the laptop is:
p3-750 (obviously 100mhz fsb)
256megs pc100 cas3
winME
they both have 256k full speed on-die cache. i'm using the cli version and seti driver. his computer takes about 9.5 hours (give or take a bit) and the laptop takes about 10.5 hours (give or take a bit). i have the laptop running of the ac plug so it is running at full speed (speed step is not kicking in). my questions are basically:
1) how does rdram compare with sdram in seti performance?
2) how big of a difference is there between the 133mhz fsb and 100mhz bus with seti?
3) should the ram difference, fsb difference, and i guess hd speed difference make up for a 200mhz+ defecit?
