going to the U.S or to the Iraq/Afghanistan government?

What are all these claims that we invaded for oil? Are we taking Iraq's oil?

Well at this point IIRC there's not much coming out those wells because of the sabotage campaigns... apparently the Iraqis don't like where the oil would be going

I don't know if we're taking anything (at least it's being paid to somebody for it), but I have read that every pipeline that is blown up that is exporting the oil results in the oil lines that are used for Iraq's own consumption being re-routed to the export side (i.e. Iraqi people have a shorage of gas and oil because of this. )

dunno.

Come on, there are hundreds of thousands of American soldiers still there, who pay for them? The oil of course!

I think the reason people criticize Bush and Co as going to Iraq for oil is because he, Cheney, et cetera own stakes in oil companies. The shenanigans in Iraq inevitably drove up oil prices so they stand to profit. Anti-Bushites feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I looked into it a while ago and determined that Bush and Cheney have long-term holdings in oil, but they're not readily sold off to capitalize immediately. It's not hard to imagine that they'll profit pretty heftily in the long-term.

i thought it was because if you saw the average protestor youd realize that "blood for oil" and comparing bush to hitler was about as much as their intellect can handle

The iraqi's let a company extract the oil, and they get a percentage of the estimated value of the untill, for say, 10 years, when that time is over, they renegotiate the deal. This is done because the iraqi's don't have the technology to extrac it. It's done like tihs all over the world. The american admin decides who gets these contracts. I don't know why they have that right, but they do.
What the government gets, i have no idea, as that is allways kept a secret.
