So about a month ago the good people at airtran airways did something to my computer and it has been sketchy. When I got it back from them, when I turned on my laptop I could hear the fan turn on and a little activity with the hard drive but that was it. No BIOS Beeps and no screen image. After a few weeks I randomly decided to try it again and it worked for an hour and then locked up. After having to manually shut down, it went back to not working again in the same way for a week. Today it is working again but I am guessing it is still a fluke.

Can anyone offer any sort of insight as to what might be wrong and / or how to keep it working?

What do you mean Airtran messed it up? Did they take it from a a security check point or did you put it into checked baggage? Because you never want to put a laptop into checked baggage. It will get tossed around and damaged and its not there fault. Otherwise if it was security that took it and damged it you might be able to hold them responsible for the damages.

Have you try an external monitor yet? Your LCD screen might be on the blink. Or might be shorting out after all that tosing around during your travels.
