Random power-offs

I took the board into DFI for the newer BIOS and now I can POST. I went to instal Windows and just after it had finished loading some of it's setup files the system wnet dead. I let it col for a minute and turned it back on. It was able to idle at 160F barely with the case open and a fan blowing into it. Could this be a thermal problem or a PSU probelem? I would guess this to be PSU ans it seem to be a fairly generic one.

Thanks

Okay, a rather expensive solution. My dad is starting to get fairly put off about this. My PSU is made by Codegen. Any info on them? The PSU did come with the case so I am guessing it is fairly cheapy.

I think I have fixed it! I made the HSF make better contact with the CPU and the idle temp was 132F. I am now installing windows. Boy this computer is wierd.

Well it's good to see you got the temp down a tiny bit, but 55c(132F) at idle is still too hot. How bout listing the full system specs. And yeah, I've heard of Codegen, they make nice cases, but generic PSU's, I wouldn't trust it. Did you clean off the old thermal paste and apply a new thin coat when you re-seated the heatsink? If not there's where you temp problem is likely coming from..
