I work as production coordinator for a magazine group in Manhattan. My place is a split-level apartment with a roomie and pay $750 in rent + another $150 or so for utilities. My room's pretty large - enough to accomodate 2 medium sized dogs. The place has a decent backyard as well.

You can get ur own place for $1100-$1400 or so. The problem with NYC (esp. if u're young, single and taking part time grad classes) is that it's very hard to save any money. Pretty much a hand to mouth deal.

No, but u do get to see film crews here and there in NYC. It's a pain when they block off streets for a couple of blocks, sometimes 3-4 blocks of traffic in areas like St. mark's place - esp. considering that most of the streets are 1-way :|
