Random OS crashes

Hi, long time reader, first time poster.

Here is my problem:

I am experiencing a couple of problems actually. The first one is this, If I boot my system up and leave it at the Windows login screen for more than a few minutes, I am unable to login because I cant click on my user name in order to type in my password. The cursor moves just fine but I cant click on anything (login prompt or "turn off" button). It's almost as if my OS is frozen beneath my cursor or clicking just doesnt work.

My other problem is that I'm getting random blue screen stop errors. It happens at random, not when I'm doing any specific activity.

My CPU generally runs at about 43C, that's well within acceptable temps I believe. I dont overclock. My machine is listed in my sig. It's only about a month old.

Any comments/input is appreciated. Thanks!
 
Can you get into windows through safe mode? Just curious. If you can run some diagnostics spyware, antivirus, etc.

Edit: Oh and welcome to the forums. RUN AWAY BEFORE YOU CAN'T!!
 
Yes, I can boot in safe mode. I can even boot up normally. Virus scans, spyware scans have all come up clean. It's weird, I can boot up and click on my user name and login if I do it quickly but if I let it sit at the login screen for more than a couple of minute, I cant click on anything.
 
If you can get in, try eliminating all startup progs except the essentials. that may or may not help depending on what progs are trying to start since some wont startup until after that screen anyway. but it cant hurt to check.........
 
Confirm you're running all the latest drivers for your hardware.
Confirm you have done all Windows Updates from the MS website.
Do you have any minidumps (*.dmp files) in c:\windows\minidump? If so, send me any NEW dumps you've gotten since you did the above 2 steps, and send me your MPS Reports output file (yourmachinename.cab is the name) and I'll take a look and hopefully see why you're getting bluescreens.

The best place to start off is by letting us know what the BSOD errors are and we can go from there.
