random, messed up screen

im runing winME and after about 12hrs of having the comp on, the screen gets distorded, it happens after the same amount of time almost every time. i think it is an OS problem but not sure whats causing it, it doesnt freeze because the mouse still moves so i doubt its a hardware problem, is it a virus ? a bad setting ? any1 know? thx..

hmm everything is like in big squares and is moved all around and the squares have sides with distorted colors. im pretty sure its not freezing as i can see my DL's in some of those squares still going .. just not sure whats wrong T_T



edit: i forgot to mention this also never happend when im using the comp, only when i let it sit there for a while and come back and use it for 5 hours straight... only when i leave it by itself it does this..

what graphics cards do you have ? (can't view you spec restricted access) the frequancy on the monitor might need changing or its direct X with current drivers square distorted blocks occour when direct x conflicts with the drivers (this tends to be irratic doesn't happen all the time)

check the Video bios shadow is off
and agp apture is set higher than the vga card

update your drivers if that doesnt work then

ill be a donkey.

oh yeah do you have power management for the monitor on coz mine did that when i let the monitor shut down i had to lower the frequancy rate and turn off the power management

thx, i think u were right about the drivers + direct x, i was using dir x 7 , switched to 8, and it didnt mess up this morning ^_^
