Random loss of internet connection

For a couple of weeks now I have a Win2K PC that will just lose the ability to surf the net. I have a cable modem and linksys router. What is interesting is that another PC on the network has no problems. In fact I am posting this on another PC while my "main" PC is being a turd.
Also my malfunctioning PC can connect to the other PC via Windows Explorer; just can not connect to the net.

When I reboot the computer, then things will be fine but that is getting kind of irritating and inconvinient.

I have ran AVG to check for viruses and Spy-Bot to make sure I don't have anything odd on my PC and I am clean. . . allegdly at least.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?
