when ever i exit a program that was open for more than about a minute, the computer at first shows everything that was open, and the mouse can move but i cant click anything. then it completley freezes... then if i click the mouse, the onboard speaker gives me 1 beep. sometimes instead of doing that, every icon on the desktop except for 1 or 2 dissappears then it freezes then beeps. anybody know the problem??

my main specs are:
asus m2n-sli deluxe
amd athlon x2 3800+
2gb xms2 ddr2 675

i do have my cpu oc'ed to 2.2... but this problem just started no more than a week ago even though i oc'ed the processor the minute i got it almost a month ago. i also reformatted my hd and reinstalled xp and everything else, so it cant be something on the hd im guessing?

Well the information you've supplied is a bit vague. You mention the CPU is overclocked so this could be the problem.

But first try swapping out your memory you could have a bad stick of memory.

If you know for a fact that the system is clean, and that the freezeups are not being caused by spyware/malware and viruses, and you are considering only the hardware, then you need to put the CPU back to stock clock speeds and see how this works, also make sure you didn't pump up the bios settings to "Agressive" settings and put the bios also back to "Default" settings, if you pumped up the bios, especially the memory settings also in it, you could have caused the system to go unstable, and possibly placing the bios back to default will clear this up.

After all that has been done, and you are still having problems, you should look at the PSU next.
