Random insanity: car from Hawaii in Illinois?

Just saw a Toyota with Hawaii plates in Chicago today. That's a little odd. I'm guessing these people moved?

most likely. when my cousins moved to california from hawaii they brought their car also.

When we moved from Guam to Hawaii we kept our Guam plates on for awhile. Probably the only ones in the state too.

probably military, the military will move 1-2 cars for military people for free
for regular people, it is usually cheaper to sell and buy a new one, i think

Transporting a car from Hawaii to California costs anywhere from 700-1000 I was told a while ago.

My mother-in-law's husband has a home here in WA and in Hawaii. They bought a '01 Land Rover Discovery new last year and had it shipped here. They still saved about $5-6k over buying one here. Since then tho, we've noticed a serious influx of those for sale....for really cheap. But considering they're only here for maybe 2 months out of the year, we're hoping they sell it to us some day for reel cheep!!!
