As you may recall my D740 80gig drive died a while back so I bought WD800JB to replace it. I've had it now for two weeks. After a week I noticed one day that drive just made a sound like the head parked and un-parked. It only does it maybe once if the computer has been on for a while and not very often at all, maybe 3 times in the last week. Computer is on for an average of 5 hours a day. Should I be worried?

Prepare for the worse scenario and back up all your important data.

Power supply in the rig is an Enermax 430W unit and it is plugged into an APC Back-UPS LS 500.

huh, mine does that too and it's also a 80 gig WD drive. It sounds like it powered down and powered back up.

I assumed worst case scenario and duplicated all my data. Though the drive seems to work fine in the USB 2 enclosure it's in now.

I did a search a while back on WD's support website and it suggested that a bad ATA cable maybe to blame.
