My system is randomly freezing, sometimes when booting up, sometimes after asking for my bios password, sometimes in the middle of a Windows(98) session.

It had been freezing up earlier but i found out it was only that i had OCed my video card too high, i lowered the speed to normal and it worked fine.

Then it started up again about a week ago. I got a new stick of RAM (now i total 224 meg) for xmas, and because inside my case is crowded, i had to unplug a few things to put the new ram in. So i get the RAM in place, plug everything back in....and now its randomly freezing again and i havent the slightest clue as to why or whats going on.

This kinda sucks....any suggestions, ideas, or just some way to try and narrow down to what the problem may be?

Thanks ahead of time.

its possible the new memory is bad, take the new stick out and see if it still freezes up

I had this problem once. It can be caused by mixing different types or brands of RAM. Either your new stick of RAM is bad, or maybe it just doesn't play well with the older one. Differences in timing on the different sticks of RAM can cause your problem. Also, some brands of RAM don't work well with some motherboard brands. Again, this is a timing issue.
