I just put together a "used system" that i got off one of the forum members but it's giving me random freezes. Sometimes the computer would completely freeze, and sometimes just the mouse/keyboard would lock up while everything else runs fine. The mouse and keyboard are usb btw.

i've tried reinstalling win xp with sp2 three times, reconnected the wires a few times, and a few other minor things like tweaking the bios.

Can anyone suggest something because i'm completely out of ideas. i would like to try out a different psu, but not an option at this point.

oh and i'd say it freezes more often when i start up games. it works fine most of the time when just browsing the web.

system spec:
gb 7nf-rz mobo
2400+ mobile barton
9600 aiw
pc3200 512mb (1 stick running at 266mhz)
one optical drive
one hdd
generic 400watt psu

and the temps on the cpu are around 45-55c

Just for kick s try a better name brand PSU. Some
"generics" are real stinkers. See if you can get a good 450w minimum to try. Maybe youcan "rent" one at a store with a good return policy. Remeber, if it's cheap, it's cheap!
