random freeze after installing nec nd-3500a

i installed my new nec nd-3500a not too long ago. when i watch dvds and surf the web at the same time, the system sometimes freezes. i cannot hit ctrl alt del, i'd have to force it to reset. this is on a p4 2.8ghz, 512mb ram. not overclocked, xp pro, windows up to date.

Try updating the firmware on the drive to the latest version.
