Random crash on Win XP with new AMD X2 installed

I just upgrade my desktop:
AMD 3400+ --> AMD X2 3800+
ASUS A8V-D --> ASUS A8N-E
PNY 6800GT --> eVGA 7800GT
MEMORY: Cosair (2x512MB) PC 3200 1GB Dual Channel

After I upgraded my desktop. I have random crash, mostly happened when playing rmvb and switching to Firefox.

First, I was thinking about the PSU, because the new 7800GT and 24-pin ATX motherboard.
I was using Thermaltake 480W PSU, and it only has 20-pin ATX, so I get a 20-24 pin adapter, and it doesnt solve the problem.

But it doesnt solve the problem.

Then i change the PSU to 500W Ultra X-Finity with 24pin ATX. but still doesnt solve it.

So, I am thinking about is because the dual core problem. Because, using 1 single core in firefox is faster than dual core. I didnt confirm yet, but I am going to replace it with AMD 3700+ SD.

Now, I am thinking the problem is from the memory. It always has 700mb free when pc started. But, after 1 hr of open application, the free memory always below 250mb. sometimes around 100. The pc i had before, the free memory never below 300mb. So, is it the memory cause the crash?

Anyone who has the dual core cpu, do u have this problem?
Because I would like to know which part of the component cause this problem.

Thank you.

Did you reinstall/repair your windows installation after upgrading the mobo? If not, try doing this and see if it makes a difference.

can you run a prog called filemon from sysinternals and see if you can see what is being accessed/opened hogging RAM

I have the exact same problem !!! This is not GOOD! I changed Motherboards and I still have this problem I think AMD made me lose some confidence in there products out of this HIDDIUS upgrade .. my worst one after 8 years of building PC's !!! Damit!

i reformated ... Do Not install the AMD CPU drivers at all ....ONLY install the the cool & quiet drivers and whatever motherboard drivers you use. do not install dual core windows patch either..... good lucK ALL is looking well for me right now 🙂
