Random CPU temp question

I see alot of people in this forum talking about how their processors are running too hot. Is there any concearn about a CPU running too cool? Would it be a sign of low voltage or somethingelse like a bad connection somewhere? My P4 2.66 is running at 33-35c so i'm not really concearned, but I was just wondering.

That could be a problem, but i extremely doubt it. You might just have good air circulation and control of heat. The lower the better. There is a way to check if you have low voltage and that is to go to bios and see if it detects your P4 speed that it should be. If it is under you may have a jumper settings problem or your power supply sucks but more than likely I doubt there is anything wrong with your comp.

Also a lotta people worry even if their CPU goes over even a little bit. I believe the normal range is somewhere between 35-40. Most companies like DELL and Compaq have CPU's that run even hotter...maybe up to 45-50..primarily because they know that the computer will run fine (mostly because they want to reduce noise and save money by not adding in an extra fan). Although I could be wrong, but thats my 2 cents.

Now that you mention it my bios is actually detecting my 2.66 as a 2.67. i'm not going to get excited about 1/100th of a Ghz, but as you said, that shows that my Antec true380 isn't defective or that I don't have any jumper setting problems. Another thing is that i'm not running a single case fan. The only fans in my case are the 2 in the power supply, the HSF, and the fan on my video card. i'm gonna go render some jpgs on 3ds max and see what it kicks the temp up to.

Thanks for the input.
