Hi folks, I have a BSOD problem that on the face of it looks memory related and mainly happens within the first half hour or so of the PC being switched on (its switched off at the wall when I'm not using it) but I just can't pin it down.
PC spec:
Gigabyte P55A-UD3R (Socket 1156) / Core i5 750
Coolermaster GX 650W / Sapphire Radeon HD 5750
2x2Gb Corsair DDR3 XMS3 / Arctic Freezer Pro 7 CPU Cooler
2x500Gb Samsung SATA II Drives / Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Since I built this PC 4 months ago I've been driven mad by random blue screens which seem to be memory related. Of the numerous times I've run memtest, I've only seen memory failures flagged up if I run memtest after the PC has been off for a few hours. Mostly I run memtest after the PC has crashed and see no errors (but by then it has warmed up ?). Twice I've run memtest cold and memory errors appeared although immediately pressing escape and running memtest again found nothing. Nothing is overclocked by the way, I'm actually running the RAM at 1333 instead of its rated 1600 because I don't want to overclock the rest of the system by raising BCLK above 133 (running the RAM at 1.64V or 1.5V makes no difference to the BSOD's)
The thing is I'm now on my second set of RAM, 2x2Gb Corsair DDR3 XMS3, (the first set was 2x2Gb of Corsair Dominator DDR3 which I returned because I thought they were the cause). I was thinking it could be the power supply or the motherboard but can't really justify buying these just to test this guess (I still have no proof). Surely I'd have to be ridicuously unlucky to get cold boot memory problems in two different types of Corsair memory ?
One thing for sure is that when the PC gets going it's rock solid, if it hasn't crashed in the first half hour or so I can bang away on it all day without problems, internet, divx movies, crysis, far cry, etc.
Any thoughts or advice appreciated, thanks.
