Going on 20hrs of prime95 no problems, still undergoing testing. Passed 10 rds of IBT maximum with no problem. Yet when i was playing company of heroes i had 2 BSODs back to back. I'm attempting to get the error codes and find out exactly what is failing.

System specs:
Q9550 @ 3.4
Asus P5E
4Gb Crucial ballistix
Galaxy KFA2 GTX-470

I just had 4gb of crucial ballistix tracers that were causing the system to fail prime 95 in less than an hour even at stock. So i replaced them with 4gb of crucial ballistix i had. Then with vcore @ 1.200 and the settings above i had 10 rds of IBT pass and 10 and a half hours of prime 95 when i stopped it so i could game. Figuring no game would task the system as much.

Both types of Ballistix DDR2 are really no good. I wouldn't have replaced Ballistix with Ballistix, I would have gone with a different brand.

I had an existing 4gb kit of ballistix in an AMD rig. They've both been purchased before they lost their reputation and were still using micron D9s. (i'm guessing they changed or lost QC?) I've had these 8 gigs of ram for almost 5 years. And while i'm not ruling out the memory or the slots i hope it's not the memory. Thing is i ran memtest on the tracers when i was having problems and they passed. Both sets are old though so that could be it.

Also always kept them @ 2.0 vdimm

As of right now i'm going to finish Prime95 24hrs if it doesn't fail. Then run a gpu stress test. Then i guess test memory with memtest, and to top it off a final 10-20 rounds of intel burn test.

Any other ideas of why it would give me a BSOD during a game like Coh?

memtest tests....5 and 6, I think it is. Or might be 6-7. That found 1 of my crucial ballistix to be the problem. ddr2 800s.

After this prime 95 test thats what ill do then. When i ran memtest on my tracers i only ran it once on each stick in a different slot. Hopefully it's software related or something other than ram. DDR2 is expensive IMO saw 8gb kits for 150+, when i just got a mushkin 8gb DDR3 2000 Kit for 130$. On the plus side if it is software related i'll be clearing my Hard drive in a couple of days anyway for a phenom 955 and a sabertooth 990fx (i want to use SLI) and the intel rig will be going as backup. I'll keep the thread updated after memtest and so on. Thanks for the reply.

got 24 hours on prime95 stable about to run Coh and see if i get BSOD.

I gave my daughter a Q8400 with 4 sticks of ballistix 1066.
I even ran memtest overnite before giving it to her.
Less then a month later she gets the BSOD once in a while.
I replaced it with my last 2 sticks of GsKill 1066 end of bsod.
Out of 3 pairs of 1066 Ballistix DDR2 each set has been rma 2 times.
Even with the voltage at 1.95v life is less then a year on my ballistix
Bad idea to use half Multipliers on c2d..
I have seen a change from 2.0v to 2.4v stop ballistix errors in memtest.
